Boca Grande Fishing Charters 2016
January 10th, 2016 Boca Grande fishing charters update.
Well winter finally caught up with us in Southwest Florida, I suppose most new residents appreciate the late arrival of winter but being as I have lived here my entire life, the older I get the more I apprecaite the cooler weather. After this latest cold front out fishing should be back to ‘Normal”, meaning the days of catching 50+ snook on live bait are gone for a few months. Our primary targets on the flats will be trout and redfish, these species are bothered by the colder water as much as snook and do not require a live well full of pilchards to get to cooperate. I have not done a tone of fishing the last 4 weeks however I have done some. Yesterday was a solid day, weather was good and we were able to hammer the redfish pretty good. Not dink redfish but 20-25 pound redfish, which are about as big as they get on the flats. They are fun to catch in three feet of water. I do not have time now but I will upload some pics of those fish sometime soon.
Now is the time to begin thinking about booking your 2016 Boca Grande fishing charters. As usuall I will hang up the light tackle and start fishing for tarpon around the last week of March or first week of April depending on the current weather pattern. I will target tarpon through October, so if you can not make it down in the spring please consider the fall months. September and October offer the best tarpon fishing of the season, it is off the chart good! March is another busy month for me, March is a fantastic month for flats fishing for snook and redfish, those days are slowley being filled up by long time “spring break” clients but I still have a decent amount of days for new clients.
April-July is my busiest time for tarpon fishing, there is good reason as fishing the Boca Grande area during the tarpon spawn offers anglers a fantastic chance of catching a tarpon, this time of year offers the largest concentration of tarpon found no where else in the world. The 2015 hill tides where the best in a decade and the 2016 season should offer the same. The hill tide crab flush offers the best tarpon bite found anywhere in the world. Please consider emailing me to secure your dates, a lot of days are already booked but there is plenty of room still, this won’t be the case in a month from now.
