Boca Grande Tarpon caught a few days before Christmas

The winds this past week have kept most of the remaing tarpon fleet in Boca Grande at port. Although the tarpon fishing in Boca Grande is fantastic during August well into September and October a few days of 15 knot winds will slow the fishing down a bit. Tarpon fishing in Boca Grande was back to Normal by the end of the week, the wind laid down and the tarpon could be seen rolling all over. Being able to sight fish for rolling tarpon is my prefered method of tarpon fishing in Boca Grande.

I have had quite a few call from potential clients the past few weeks asking about tarpon fishing in Boca Grande in October. Let me be very clear, tarpon fishing is GREAT in October. Most of the calls I have been recieving are from customers who have read other fishing guides websites who only fish for tarpon in Boca Grande during May and June, these guides are here for those two months then leave Boca Grande for the year. I live and fish Boca Grande year round. I have caught tarpon in Boca Grande all the way up to Christmas before, although most years I hang up my tarpon gear sometime in November after a few cold frons push through Boca Grande.
