Charlotte Harbor tarpon fishing report: Now booking, Boca Grande and Charlotte Harbor Tarpon Charters. Year 2013
Tarpon fishing has continued to be great, not good, but GREAT! With the passing of tropical storm Issac just off of our coast line earlier in the month and no new tropical waves in the near future, tarpon fishing should remain consistant for at least another 4 weeks.
Last week there was a tarpon tagging tournament put on by the tarpon and bonfish trust. They were paying $500 for every tarpon over $100 that we could place a satelitte tag in. There were about 10 boats invited to take part in this program. The conditions were windy and less than ideal for tarpon fishing. There were over 25 tarpon hooked and the first 10 tarpon over 100 pounds were paid out. The tarpon fishing was/is so good that many anglers were flyfishing and hooking up close to 10 tarpon a day.
Flats fishing remains very good. Like the last few weeks the flats fishing in Pine Island and Charlotte Harbor has been good for snook and redfish. I expect the flats fishing to be very good for the remainder of the year.
